– Thomas Dennerby has parted ways with the
Super Falcons
– The 60-year-old blamed his resignation on
unpaid wages and lack of co-operation from NFF
– Dennerby won AWCON title in his first year in
charge of the nation’s women national team
Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby has
walked out of his contract with the Nigeria Football
Federation (NFF).
The Swedish born tactician sent his resignation
letter to the country’s football body having stayed
away from the team in their last two matches.
The 60-year-old was not the coach at the stands
when the eighth time AWCON queens crashed out
of the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers after losing
to Ivory Coast on away goals rule.
Although, the manager’s contract is due to expire
next year, the Swede claimed unpaid wages among
others were his reasons for refusing to see out his
contract.
He also insisted that he does not have the co-
operation of some of the NFF members, while his
failure to get accommodation in the country are
other reasons.
“Mr Dennerby has sent his resignation letter to the
NFF and this doesn’t surprise anyone because he
decided to stay away from the team last month ,” a
top NFF official told BBC Sport.
