– Diego Maradona was back to his old club Newell
as opposition manager
– His side Gimnasia beat Newell 4-0 in a
potentially game-changing win for the 59-year
old’s side
– Notably, Newell fans were full of nothing but
love for their old boy as they serenaded him, and
handed him a special chair for the match

Argentine legend Diego Maradona was given an
odd heroes’ welcome despite making his return to
his old club Newell’s Old Boys as opposition
manager.
Despite only playing a handful of games for
Newell’s Old Boys in 1993, the fans deemed it fit
to give him a grand welcome as he led his current
side Gimnasia out for the game.
His former club even afforded the World Cup
winner a pitch-side throne so he could watch the
game from the most enviable position in the
stadium.
