Chelsea will really be glad if there
were no VAR this season, as the Blues
have been the club most hit by video
assistants in the Premier League.
The video assistant referees have
never overturned decisions in
Chelsea’s favour, but have ruled
three times against Chelsea, which is
the worst record in the league.
ESPN found out that only three times
have the video referee overturned
decisions in the Blues’ games, and
each decision went against Chelsea.
On August 24, Kurt Zouma’s goal
against Norwich was cancelled
because of Olivier Giroud’s foul on
the goalkeeper.
A month later against Liverpool, another goal, this time by
Cesar Azpilicueta, was ruled out as
well due to Mason Mount’s off-side.
The latest happened against Burnley
this weekend when Callum Hudson-
Odoi was initially awarded a penalty
when he was brought down in
Burnley’s penalty box. However, after
a video review, the winger was
instead booked for diving.
