Onitsha Fire Disaster: Ex Minister, Osita Chidoka Floats Relief Fund for Victims

Former Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Osita
Chidoka in association with some
nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) have
floated a relief fund to assist the victims of the
recent Onitsha fire disaster, in Anambra state.In a media statement released on Friday, the former
minister announced that the fund named

ONITSHA FIRE RELIEF INTERVENTION PROJECT

will be administered through a “disbursement board” comprised of prominent members of the
society including religious leaders.The disbursement board of the fund has the
following Nigerians as members:

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube muonso),

Dr. Mcginger Ibeneme,

Osita Chidoka,

IfechidereUgwu and

Rev. Azuka Chukwuanu.

Some NGOs that are in partnership with the
former minister include:
Nkemefuna Foundation, Alaigbo Development &
Accountability Initiative, Agbaruo Ngene
Foundation, Youth for Transparency International
and Safenest Foundation

and individuals are requested to channel their

Onitsha.the commercial nerve centre of southeast geopolitical zone was hit on Wednesday and Friday by two unfortunate fire disasters caused by fuel tankers.”EPARLIAMENT” reported that the Wednesday fire destroyed the popular Ochanja
market in the commercial city rendering thousands of traders hopeless, the fire incident
also claimed the five lives including that of a
nursing mother and her baby.
The second fire which occurred in the early hours
of Friday did not record any casualty, but wrecked
enormous havoc on vehicles, buildings and several other properties valued in hundreds of
millions.
