Appeal Court Upholds the Election of Senator Bassey Albert

The Court of Appeal, Calabar division of Friday
upheld the victory Senator Bassey Albert of
Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) as the
authentic winner of the Akwa Ibom North East
Senatorial District Election.

The Candidate of the All Progressive Congress
(APC) in the election, Mr. Bassey Etim had
challenged the eligibility of Senator Akpan on the
grounds of age, certificate forgery, indictment of
an administrative panel and over-voting.

The Appeal Court in its ruling dismissed all four
claims of the appellant on the ground that he
failed to prove any of the allegations. The Court,
therefore, upheld the election of Senator Akpan.
