Manchester United have spent a whopping £323.7million on players since the departure of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 11 major signings brought to Old Trafford
failed to live up top the billing, particularly failing
to replace the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin
Van Persie.

Romelu Lukaku arrived Old Trafford from Everton
for £75m but was offloaded to Inter Milan during
the summer after a lacklustre 2018-19 season.
Many thought Angel Di Maria’s £52m signing from
Real Madrid in 2014 was going to be a hit, but he
failed to replicate his form at the Bernabeu and
was shipped to Paris Saint-Germain.
Fred is yet to prove himself at the Theatre of
Dreams in the defensive midfield position and after
playing under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer, the Brazilian is yet to prove he is a
worthy first team player.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Morgan Schneiderlin who
came in for £30m and £27m respectively have left
United after struggling during their short spells at
the club.
Alexis Sanchez is arguably the biggest flop with the
Red Devils alongside Memphis Depay whose
statistics match that of Cristiano Ronaldo’s when
he was 21.
Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Bastian
Schweinsteiger who were all signed by Louis Van
Gaal were also deemed surplus to requirements.
And the best defender in the Serie A in 2014
Matteo Darmian, left Old Trafford to Parma to
revive his international career.
