Brazil women’s football have entered the record
books after a team hammered their opponents
56-0 in a bizarre football result.
At the last count, one of the most outrageous
result happened during the 2019 Women’s World
Cup in France, when United States defeated
Thailand 13-0 en route to winning the tournament.
The tendency to have double figures in a football
score line tends to mostly happen in women
football, probably owing to the fact that one team
is usually not up to the task.
Interestingly, in a game in Brazil, a women’s team
Flamengo decided to completely humiliate their
opponents as they thrashed Gremio 56-0 in a
Carioca Championship game.
The fact that it was a competitive game makes the
scoreline more unbelievable to say the least.
Flamengo were up 7-0 by 11 minutes and from
then on, it was clear the game would end in an
embarrassing scoreline.
By half time, the favorites had scored a staggering
29 goals, and it looks like the manager was out
for more blood in the second half where they
scored a further 27.
Two players – Atacante Raiza and Flavia stood out
as they both scored 11 goals while another one,
Samhia Simao, grabbed nine.
Notably, Flamengo have been ruthless in the
Carioca Championship having bagged 79 goals in
their first three matches.
They must have been emulating the Benfica
(Portugal) women’s side who are on record to
scoring 293 goals in 16 matches, including a 32-0
win in one match.
