Liverpool have accepted a £200,000 fine for
fielding an ineligible player in their 2-0 win over
MK Dons in the Carabao Cup last week.
Pedro Chirivella replaced Naby Keita just after the
hour mark at Stadium MK, but the Spaniard’s
necessary paperwork to play a part in the
competition was not processed and international
clearance hadn’t been received.
Expulsion had been on the table as a potential
sanction with Jurgen Klopp admitting that the
Reds would have to accept any punishment that
came their way if they were found to have
breached EFL rules.
On Wednesday, it was confirmed that a £200k
fine had been handed out with half of that
suspended until the end of next season.
