The number of people believed to have died of
starvation owing to the hunger situation in
Shang’ombo District in western province has
now risen to five.

Mubika has disclosed that the latest death has
been confirmed to him today, 1st October,
2019.
Mr. Mubika has told QTV News that this shows
how severe the hunger situation in Shang’ombo
district has now become.
He says as area MP, he has observed that
while government is doing its part to distribute
relief food to the people, the distribution is
allegedly being done on partisan lines.
Mr. Mubika has appealed to government to
engage genuine NGOs who will not distribute
relief food on partisan lines.
He says his worry is particularly that if relief
food continues being distributed on partisan
lines, more lives will be lost especially among
those that are on A ntiretroviral (ARV) drugs .
